Professor Serge Delrot

Professor Serge Delrot recently visited Lincoln University (July 2009) and was also hosted in Marlborough by Andy Frost of Pernod Ricard. Professor Delrot is the Director of the Institute for Vine and Wine Sciences at Bordeaux. The Institute carries out research in grape ecophysiology, physiology, molecular biology, chemistry, oenology and wine marketing (250 staff). Professor Delrot is Chair of the EU COST-ACTION 858 on grapevine biotic and abiotic stress during development (17 countries and 85 laboratories). He is also a member of the steering committee of the International Grape Genome programme. Professor Delrot gave a seminar entitled “Grape and wine research from a European perspective” and met staff and postgraduates in the Viticulture and Oenology area. We are looking forward to an ongoing collaboration with Professor Delrot and his Institute. Lincoln has recently been accepted to join the EU COST-ACTION 858.
